But glad to have sat under
Thunder and rain with you,
And grateful too
For sunlight on the garden.

So do I! When I first read it, I wasn’t sure I was getting any of it, but there was something about the poem that left a deep impression on me.

It’s the way he picks up the rhyme scheme at the beginning rather than at the end of the line. It makes it feel very jazzy and modern. Contemporary rap artists have similar tricks up their sleeves. I would love to be a rapper, but I am far too old for that and can only manage a touch of rap in my otherwise stern free-verse-style work.

Ah, I see, there is something about it! Curiously, though I’m educated in literature, my approach to poetry is more intuitive than formal.

That is so pretty. We are descending into autumn. Not that you’d know it yet. Last three days the mercury has hit over 36 !

Wow, you like it hot over there, right? I’m enjoying spring time, it’s great that the winter is finally over! It was long and cold.

Don’t know about the word ‘like’, but yeah, we get it hot. At the moment it’s cold, wet and windy. But then two days ago it was hot, dusty and windy 😦
