In response to WP Weekly Photo Challenge: Place.
This could be anywhere. Or could it? It’s not anywhere anyway. It’s Eastern Europe. Not eastern Europe with a lower-case e as a geographical region, but Eastern Europe capitalised as a former political unit (aka Eastern Bloc), which still retains its sociocultural characteristics today. Why should you care? Oh, you shouldn’t! Unless you’re into places in the middle of nowhere. That’s where my place is. Nowhere. I’m saying, not complaining.

Well, it can be nice, it can be picturesque even, but really, it’s not up to much. I do think visitors from different countries would find it interesting though.

Nowhere is actually somewhere you know. In Australia its just up the road and around the bend. We have places ‘The Back of Nowhere’ which really are isolated, and if that’s not bad enough you can live in places, ‘The Arse End of the World” and we have those too as I once lived there, so my MIL told me once.

Wise words, as always. I don’t really know the place I live in too well, I just know the way to the supermarket and the train station, and that’s about it. There’s not much to entice me to wander around: just some houses, trees and fields… Of course, I can only imagine how different Australia is. Your middle of nowhere is an entirely different concept!

That scene could really be anywhere indeed. Or there could be a similar scene elsewhere. Your place is nowhere…you know, I think so is mine too. We might be somewhere but feel so detached up until we don’t know where we want to go. Sometimes staying home and going back to bed is the bed option. Off to dreamland, mind wanders, once again off to nowhere 👌

You are reading my mind, Mabel. It’s fascinating: I didn’t write or show much in this post, but those were my feelings. The feeling of being detached, not having a place in the world, not belonging where I am but not quite knowing where I would belong either… Anyway, thank you, as always, for your thought-provoking comment!

Pretty much the same with me. Except my friend is expecting her second kid now and is not feeling great, so no chance of her going out with me these days. I doubt it’ll improve when the baby is born. sigh

my friend has four grandkids. She’s not as obsessed as many women tend to be with grandchildren … she has a healthy relation with them. She didn’t change as a person when she got her own kids either. All good. Hoping the same for your friend 🙂

Good to hear. My friend is the same, kids or no kids, it’s quite curious. I feels so strange to me that she’s a mother. But whatever works for her.
