Of Cars and Men [Poem]

Of Cars and Men [Poem]

Pedestrians are people with destinations

In their minds

And baggage in their hands

Too heavy to carry around

But cars—

Put your weight away in the trunk

And let you guide

As though you’re in control

Go

Go

Trams

come and go

Stopping

on the go

Crawling

tediously

Counting

meters

As they go

Poetry 101 Rehab: Roots

Poetry 101 Rehab: Roots

In response to Andy Townend’s Poetry 101 Rehab.

Uprooted

Rejected

By what you loved

Crushed to the ground

With no resources

No roots to take

In

Poetry 101 Rehab: Fem

Poetry 101 Rehab: Fem

In response to Andy Townend’s Poetry 101 Rehab.

Fem or man

Man or wo-man

All hum-man

All equal

Some more

Some less

Poetry 101 Rehab: Odyssey

Poetry 101 Rehab: Odyssey

In response to Andy Townend’s Poetry 101 Rehab.

Ulysses fares abroad

adventuring

Penelope waits at home

for him

With the quiet heroism

of women

Poetry 101 Rehab: Wrapping

Poetry 101 Rehab: Wrapping

In response to Andy Townend’s Poetry 101 Rehab.

Everyone is wrapped

In covers

Of false faces

For others

To choose

From

Writing 101: Farewell

Writing 101: Farewell

In response to Writing 101, Day 10: Farewell.

By and far

Farewell

Far and large

Goodbye then

Writing 101: Camouflage

Writing 101: Camouflage

In response to Writing 101, Day 9: Camouflage.

No cover can camouflage

Vacant lots for eyes

Murky subterrain for mind

Lost and abandoned

In a kafkaesque labyrinth

Haunted by white mice

Rust

Rust

A crust of rust and dust

Where it must

Have been polished brass—

A handle to paradise

Writing 101: Graffiti

Writing 101: Graffiti

In response to Writing 101, Day 8: Graffiti.

The space of seedy streets

Teems with graffitied screams

Of obscene desires and dreams
