What I Hated the Least Today 222/365: Happy Grumpy Holiday

The humbug season again

I’m not a huge fan of holidays of any kind, which doesn’t prevent me from wishing everyone who feels otherwise a satisfactory holiday season. On top of it, here’s a link to my old article, in case you missed it last year, which details in detail some shocking local seasonal traditions. Included is live fish in a tub, melted metals and golden swines. Yup.

  1. Well let me say I read your Czech traditions post and we in the land down under don’t have anything like that on Christmas day, which by the way it today here at this very moment.
Our traditions might be things like, having small children wake you at 5am to start your day, present giving as soon as you get up, a hot lunch especially if you have an insane mother in law who is happy to stand over a hot stove in 40C heat to prepare a feast to feed 20 when only 10 are coming for lunch, drinking yourself stupid and in some families, thought thankfully not mine, the annual punch up among drunken males and often females of the family…..now who’d want to miss out on all that??? Its a great day and I’m enjoying my Christmas Day as we speak….

    1. Haha, I’m glad Australians don’t have any morbid Christmas traditions involving live fish kept in a bathtub or otherwise. Your Christmas routines and rituals sound pretty much like what one sees on TV. Though the TV glosses it a bit over. Hopefully you had a peaceful holiday or else funny stories to tell about your holiday!

          1. Haha 😀 I’d hate to turn into a boy. I’m quite alright as I am. I enjoy the girls’ things like painted nails and make-up and shit… So superficial.

          2. Busted. I thought of that when I was writing my comment, but I didn’t want to go into tedious detail 🙂 Other than my desk and my chair, I promise that all my other furniture is indeed Ikea.

          3. Haha, no, you are right, I provided misleading information and I should be ashamed! And you should be congratulated on your excellent memory.

          4. No? My cat only eats from the floor. She throws food out of her bowl so she could eat it from the floor. Anything I drop on the floor she attempts to eat.

    1. I didn’t do anything for my holiday either (I cooked chicken and rice, which is not a Christmas meal by any standards, but I couldn’t be bothered with carp) and I’m positively excited it’s over. It was a bit of pressure with everyone around going crazy about it.

      1. Me too! I find it the worst in the stores, where they’re playing Christmas music in the background, and people are running around like poisoned rats … all grey in their faces.
