I received a package from overseas from a mysterious admirer. The package was better travelled than me, which itself inspired awe in me for it. There were more awes and aws as I opened it and kittens started spilling out of it.
It seems that I live on the kindness of strangers and friends who are so awesome as to supply me with gifts of iPads and cat themed stationery. So this is a thank you. Now, will you excuse me, I need to go and cuddle the kitty on my new mouse pad.
Seems kinda creepy. How did this person obtain your address?

Haha, not creepy at all! I know the person and I gave her my address for the purpose, I just made it sound mysterious in my post 😉

My bad, it happens to me often that I make something sound completely different from what I intend. Like making something cute into something creepy 😮

Yeah, that letter has been around — to the States, for starters.
I got a kitten card, myself, today, from Sweden. Glad you liked them 😺

It was my first ever package that had travelled from and across the North American continent, the USA and Canada, so I was treating its receipt with due respect 🙂 It’s the little things that bring the most joy sometimes. Like kitty sticky notes.

So true! Someone sent me a video tape from Australia (Tasmania to be more precise), and I felt that way too. Curiously enough, it took only four days for that package to reach me in Sweden!

Wow, Tasmania! Very exotic. Not so exotic to Tasmanians, I guess, but very much so for me.

It’s an island of the same size as Ireland.

I Googled it, but seeing it on the map doesn’t make it less exotic to me 🙂

The guy I knew there was originally Irish. I don’t know how he ended up there, but he’d bought a huge house that used to be some Buddhist retreat or something.
They had a mass shooting in Hobart, the capital there, a number or years ago.

An Irishman’s Buddhist retreat in Tasmania? I doubt it can get more interesting than that 😉

Isn’t it good people think so much of you to send you gifts…in some ways it could be seen as an affront considering the attitudes you express about people but I’m so pleased some have seen through you to see the lovable character you really are…..I think its very cool actually……I had a blogging friend send me a gift last Christmas, not sure why but I was chuffed to say the least. Though living in Australia it did arrive after New Year but its the thought that counts isn’t it…..

Yes, it is awesome in itself to get a gift just like that, and it’s even more so considering how much I suck at people skills. It’s a shock, but a good one, and no way an affront! Even my meanness has its limits. Good to hear you have some very good (and generous 😉 ) blogging friends too!

If you send me your address I can include you on my Christmas card list, something distinctly Australian…

Wow! A Christmas card list? I’m flattered and intimidated at once. I’m also intrigued that you have a card list – you actually send postcards? I think I sent my last postcard decades ago from a summer camp.

AS Michael says, me too ! via the Contact me on my blog, if you would be willing 🙂

Wait, wait, you also send Christmas postcards?? Is that an Australian thing, as Michael says? I now feel slightly inferior because I don’t send cards, but I don’t celebrate Christmas, so there might be something I’m missing!

I’m old fashioned in that kind of way. sadly cost of postage has forced me to reduce the volume, but special people still get one !

That’s so nice of you! Postage is getting increasingly expensive, but I mostly don’t use snail mail because it’s, uh, snail-paced 😉

Yeah, I know what you mean, but you know, there is something special about getting a personal, HANDWRITTEN note, card or letter. I heard on the news the other night that universities and high schools are having to reconsider written exams because some kids don’t know how to WRITE !!!!!!!

I imagine. I’ve found myself hardly able to write in longhand anymore because I just don’t do that.

I still do sometimes. It’s quite a different experience. More intimate and personal.
