      1. Oh no!! How disappointing after a lovely holiday. Well I’m assuming it was lovely based on the photos. I could be wrong. I hope the cold subsides quickly for you! In the meantime looking at all your photos again may help make you feel warmer ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. It’s no tragedy, I’ll survive! But it is unpleasant that we’re having no real summer here this year. It seems to be the case for much of Europe. How are things in Canada? Have you got a summer this year? (Or at all?)

I’m bound to stare at my photos from Crete a lot, I took originally 600 of them and reduced it to 300 of the best ones — now of course I want to edit and post some more ๐Ÿ™‚ Unlike you, I travel little, so it’s a unique thing for me…

          1. I have not been home for a Canadian winter for 3 years so I am desperately holding on to the bit of warmth we have now. Here we alternate between blisteringly hot and rain it seems. I don’t remember Canadian winter being so erratic during the summer. I can’t imagine what this winter will bring. I think we may have to follow your example and take a break in Greece again ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve loved your pictures on Instagram!!

          2. I see! That’s a good idea to retire to a warmer place to stay out winter ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish I could do that too, but that would mean spending half of the year elsewhere, which is not practical, obviously. You make me feel scared of this year’s winter now too. The weather has been erratic this year, even more than usual, and I fear it might be very cold ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I’m poor at coping with cold… I should learn from you!

    1. It was stunning! Yes, I actually went for a swim twice, I was so brave! I wish I could have gone more times but I just couldn’t cope with the cold water any more ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Haha, I do like water, there’s no bravery in it, but the water must be hot, so I typically only swim in thermal spas :-p Thanks for appreciating my sacrifice all the same! ๐Ÿ˜€

          1. Yes… Eek… Let’s not even discuss it please… I’ve once tasted a mineral water with this smell — it smelled like rotten eggs and it tasted the same. Awful.

    1. Oh, have you been to Crete? Where? We’ve been in a small village near Ierapetra. It was very quiet but we were a bit sorry that most of the sights were several hours of drive from there, so we only made trips to Chrissy and Spinaloga Islands and that was it…

      1. We were based in a small town between Heraklion and Malia. We are history junkies so we visited all the Minoan sites, big and small, and an ancient hill town called (if memory serves) Lato. Plus the sunken Venetian city that’s opposite Spinalonga and the Roman remains at Gortys and the Venetian fort at Rethymnon. We were only there for a week so didn’t make it to the west of the island. Next time.

        1. Oh dear, you were very busy! We intended primarily an on-the-beach holiday, so we travelled little. We were however surprised by the sheer amount of historical sites in Crete. We might once return there solely for sightseeing.

  1. Wow! I am no big fan of beaches, but seeing these pics, I wish I could take a trip to Crete ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. You don’t like the beach? Ah! That is unusual ๐Ÿ™‚ I thought it was me who doesn’t like things… In either case, I’m glad that my photos put you in the proper summer travel mood!

        1. Oh, I’m so stupid, I didn’t realise! If it’s any comfort though, here the summer is almost over too and I suspect the winter will be long and cold — it always seems like that!

          1. Actually, I like winter more than summer ๐Ÿ˜› But all the same, I do miss the long, hot and sunny days that we laze away…

          2. We tend to miss most what we don’t have at the moment, right? Just now I’m looking forward to early autumn, September and October are usually my favourite months โค
